Cork International Choral Festival

Seán was invited to a performance reading, given by Paul Hiller and Chamber Choir Ireland at CIT School of Music, of his piece ‘Dreams’, which was runner-up in the Seán Ó Riada competition. This also piece won the Feis Ceoil choral composition award and will be premiered on 12 July by New Dublin Voices, directed by Bernie Sherlock. The workshop was chaired by the composer Rhona Clark.
Later that day, the Mornington singers, directed by Dr Orla Flanagan, performed Seán’s piece ‘Et clamabant’ as part of their programme for the Fleischmann International Trophy. As well as receiving Ireland’s Choir of the Year Award, the Mornington Singers placed third in the Fleischmann competition, and Dr Flanagan received the MacCurtain and McSwiney Memorial Trophy—a special award, decided by the members of the International Jury, to a conductor in the International Competition for the performance of an imaginative and artistic programme.
